Burgos is a city to live, to live well. Thanks to its newly opened University Hospital of Burgos, the city has a high ratio of hospital beds (3.4 beds / 1,000 inhabitants), superior to the Castilian and Leonese average (3.03) and Spanish (2.63) , attended by 800 persons dedicated to primary care (medical and nursing staff). As regards the provision of social services and leisure, Burgos currently has six community centres with 150,000 users, nine social action centres, 30 municipal schools for sports activities, 2 sports stadiums, four indoor municipal swimming pools and three golf courses located within 30 kilometres of the city.

Burgos has three assets that have been declared World Heritage Sites: the Cathedral, the Atapuerca site and the Camino de Santiago and the city of Castilla y Leon that receives the majority of tourists, with a total of over one million tourists a year who have at their disposal a broad choice of hotels in the region.  These are attractive to those who wish to enjoy one of the best Spanish cuisines as well as an excellent wine culture, with such designations of origin as Ribera del Duero, Ribera del Arlanza.
